How Much Fuel Actually Gets Delivered When You Run Dry in Buffalo, and the Diesel Problem
Enough to reach a station, not a full tank. What fuel delivery costs, why a diesel run dry may need priming, and when an empty gauge is not an empty tank.

Fuel delivery brings a couple of gallons of the right fuel, puts it in, and makes sure the car starts. It is not a trip to the pump; it is the cheapest way to get a stranded car moving again. It is $129 plus the fuel, booking fee included, with no hook-up or mileage because nothing is towed.
A gasoline car starts as soon as there is fuel in the tank. A diesel is different. Running one fully dry pulls air into the lines and many need priming before they will fire. Some do it with a few key cycles; others need the lines bled, which is a shop job. Say it is a diesel when you call and we will tell you honestly whether fuel alone will get you going.
An empty gauge on a car that stalled is not proof of an empty tank. A failed fuel pump stalls a car the same way. If fuel goes in and the car still will not start, the next step is a tow to a shop at $160 plus $7 a mile, and we will say so on the spot rather than sell a second delivery. Keep the tank above a quarter from December to March; a near-empty tank invites condensation and a frozen line. The out-of-gas guide has the rest.
