The Jump That Did Not Hold — When a Buffalo Car Needs a New Battery Fitted Where It Sits
A battery past three or four Buffalo winters often will not take a charge. When a second jump is wasted money, what a battery fitted on the spot costs, and when the real problem is the alternator.

The pattern is always the same. The car would not start on a cold morning, somebody jumped it, it ran for the day, and the next cold morning it would not start again. That is not bad luck. A lead-acid battery that has been through three or four Buffalo winters has lost the plates it needs to hold a charge, and every deep discharge takes a little more. A jump start gets it going once. It will not make it a battery again.
Battery replacement is the call for that car. We bring the right battery for the make, fit it where the car sits, check the terminals and the hold-down, and the car starts. The price is $199 plus the battery, with the booking fee included and no mileage because nothing is towed. Against a second jump, a tow to a shop and a morning lost, it is usually the cheaper number.
What a new battery does not fix is a charging system that has failed. If the car starts on the new battery, drives for twenty minutes and dies again, the alternator was the problem all along and the new battery is now flat too. We ask the right questions before the work, not after: how it died, whether the dash lights dimmed while driving, whether it has been jumped before this winter. Battery or alternator walks through the same questions, and if the honest answer is alternator the car rides to a shop on a wheel-lift instead.
